A simple fracture occurs due to low-velocity injuries and is usually closed. It may occur in all age groups. Though it may look simple, some fractures need surgery depending on the fracture pattern.
COMPLEX FRACTURE
A complex fracture occurs in high-velocity injuries. Sometimes these fractures are open injuries. Fractures around the Hip, Knee and Pelvis, including Spine, are all complex fractures. The treatment ranges from conservative management to surgeries. All open fractures need immediate and active intervention.
PAEDIATRIC FRACTURE
Less than 13 years old are considered Paediatric fractures. Sports, Bicycle riding and automobile accidents are the most common causes among older kids. Paediatric fractures usually heal well. However, growth should not be affected.
OLD AGE FRACTURE
Fractures occur after age 65, along with other medical conditions like Osteoporosis, Diabetics, and Hearing and Vision disturbances, making treatment challenging.
SPINE FRACTURES
Fall from heights, Motor vehicle accidents, Workplace injuries and Old age are more prone to spine fractures. Depending upon the neurological involvement, patients may require surgery.
